YAY for this Monday. After a week of being horribly ill from this bacterial sushi thing (see prior post), I am so so so much better and so so so happy!!! The shorties went to see their Daddy this weekend, on Friday - and the Junior Service League put on Follies 2009!!! I worked at the Patron's Party both nights to help out a little...but other than that, I did very very little besides hang out on a couch and relax. And it was so nice. I did get a TON of laundry done, which was necessary for my continued existence, but it wasn't stressful at all.
And I slept. I slept WELL and happy. No tossing and turning, no stomach pain, no small sweaty preschoolers cuddled up next to me with 3 and 4 year old breath in my face...(which I actually love, but that situation does not beget sound sleep for Momma...)
And now I'm at work, about to have my 2nd cup of coffee and pore over the Roman Record (Hey, it's Monday, I gotta keep up!!!) and get my work life back in order. I have a few appointments scheduled for this afternoon and I need to go to the jail to see my boys in orange about next week's court appearances...I feel in control of my life (well, as in control as one could be of the madness that is my life) and much, much, much more like myself than I have since before the Holidays!!! YAY.
So. This week - I have a bunch of crazy errands to get done like:
- pay car insurance
- get oil changed
- pay Berry and file for reimbursement from Flex account
- pay parking ticket (eek)
- pay speeding ticket
(Do you see a car-related theme going on here? I actually washed and vaccuumed out my whole car yesterday and I'm so happy about it!)
- go to the bank, deposit checks
- call Gas company and moan about my bill (I'm sure there's a leak, it CAN'T be normal for it to be that high)
- check into cable TV & internet (GASP!) - I'm breaking down here...
- wash Carsie's ballet things this evening so she can do ballet tomorrow
- finish Sadie's prize so I can take it to the hospital when she's born on Wednesday
- organize sitter for Wednesday so I can go to the hospital...
- figure out dinner for the rest of the week so we can eat at home.
- get little Valentine things for the kids to take to their parties at school for classmates
- figure out something for my own Valentine (YES, I have a Valentine, isn't that sweet?)
So far, that's what I got. Aren't you glad you came to read my blog so now you know my whole to-do list? Of course you are!!! You love the random irrelevant details of my life. That's why you come here. ;)
I got some Valentine's fabric yesterday while I was at the fabric store buying machine needles and a tape measure. It was $4.99/yard, on sale at 50% off! (So, only 2.50 a yard...) - I got 1/2 a yard of 4 different heart-prints for a total of $5.00!!! (And, miracle of miracles, I eeked TWO size 4 dresses out of it...they're a little different, but the same...so I think I'm going to give one to Addie - my secretary's granddaughter...) Pictures soon!
OK - random questions:
1. How often do you wash your car - either in the drive-thru wash or hand-washing?
2. If you could be doing something OTHER than being at work today, and just for today, what would you be doing?
3. What is the coolest Valentine's gift/idea/date you have gotten/given/heard of?
4. Tell me about your shoes. Either the ones you have on or your favorite pair, or both.
So glad you're feeling better JJ.
ReplyDelete1. Never. OK ~ maybe it's not that bad. How about once every couple of years? Thankfully, Kyle washes it for me and does it much more frequently.
2. I'm not at work and, in fact, have no work work to do so I'll put a Mary-twist on this. If I weren't stuck at home with a sick Gracen, I'd be diligently completing all of the tasks on my To Do list. Yeah right ~ that's it! I'd finish my whole To Do list today if it wasn't for that pesky, sick 4-year old . . . I would get my run in though . . .
3. Good question. I dunno. My dad's birthday is on Valentine's Day, so it's always been more about him. Not to say that I didn't have give Valentine's Days but they never were (and still really aren't) mushy, gushy romantic goo.
4. I'm wearing my running shoes because I was planning to take aforementioned sick monkey to school and then immediately go for a run. They are New Balance 768s ~ the light blue / grey model. They are in decent shape but getting up there in miles. I need to get a new pair soon and relegate these to shorter training runs.
Have a superb day!
1. How often do you wash your car - either in the drive-thru wash or hand-washing?
ReplyDeleteUhhh... hardly ever... my can is SUPER dinged up from a massive hailstorm and then a little fender crunching later... so.. it's like what's the point???
2. If you could be doing something OTHER than being at work today, and just for today, what would you be doing?
Just hanging out in a coffee shop reading the paper drinking coffee slowly and relaxingly... either that or having a lot of sex.
3. What is the coolest Valentine's gift/idea/date you have gotten/given/heard of?
Not sure about the coolest... I was out of town on V-day (I know horrible but it was business)... I gave my wife porn. She liked it.
4. Tell me about your shoes. Either the ones you have on or your favorite pair, or both.
Right now I have some semi-casual brown shoes on... it's work. My favorite are my army boots... I've had them for about 16 years now... but they're slicker than snot so I can't wear them much in the winter. I really need to shell out some cash and get them resoled.
1. I *try* to clean my car out (not wash it, just declutter) every Thursday - and I *attempt* to vacuum out all the pop-tart crumbs, etc. about once a month. I wash it probably once a month - the $3.00 special, usually.
ReplyDelete2. Just for today, I'm feeling motivated to have my house be organized - and the kids' drawers are driving me crazy, so I'd clean out the drawers and reorganize the sewing stuff in the bonus room since I *just* drug it all out for the first time in many many months.
3. I don't know. I'm not a huge Valentine's Day person, I kind of think it's contrived romance, but I think handmade and from-the-heart gifts are the best - like I had heard of someone making a little box or jar of things that person really loved/appreciated about his/her significant other. That is sweet, doesn't really cost much, and is bound to please.
4. I have on black leather Bandolino heels with a little mary-jane button-up detail. They need to be repaired - the heels are uneven...I wear them a lot. They're the workhorse pumps of my professional wardrobe.
1. Car Wash - Maybe 3 times a year. I take it through the $3 drive thru wash. If it weren't for the water restrictions, I'd do it in my driveway more often, but I'm not allowed!
ReplyDelete2. Today - I'd be playing outside - going to the dog park, hiking, planting some flowers
3. Valentine's - I agree that it is a fabricated holiday and I don't really go for all the cheesy romantic stuff. But I do think it's nice to take that day to have a nice dinner with your sweetie and turn the TV off and really pay attention to each other.
4. Shoes - I'm wearing 10 year old beat up brown boots from J Crew. They sure are comfy though.
I pass on the questionaire for reasons of logistics.. : ( boo hoo
