Let's get it started...Let's get it started in here...

I have that song in my head (funny how a lot of my blog post titles have been song lyrics. How unoriginal of me...) - but today I have that song in my head because A) it's FRIDAY!!!! and I'm ready to get the weekend started and B) We got an offer on our house yesterday (I'd woo hoo but it was an insanely low offer) and we countered today, and I'm really really really hoping we can just get on with the show and get this thing not only STARTED but OVER....already....

Random thoughts:
Cole has asked me for the last 3 days to buy him hair gel or mousse. ??? Yesterday it went like this:
C: "Mom, is that stuff boys put in their hair called 'moose'"
J: Yeah, bud, it's "Mousse", but not like the animal moose, it's just called "mousse"...because it's got a creamy texture.*
C: Mom, can you get me some mousse at Wal-Mart?
J: Maybe (which is mom-code for NO...), why do you think you need mousse? You are handsome already and you have great hair.
C: BECAUSE, Mom, Will says mousse makes your hair stick up. I want my hair to stick up. PLEEEAAAASEEE????

* This was said, as if my 4-year-old could "hear" the difference in the spelling of "moose" and "mousse" and also as if he had the contextual knowledge to understand WHY the creamy texture inspiring word was derived from the French. Silly Mommy.

I still haven't figured out which Will he was talking about. He has two little friends at school named Will (Will Terry and Will Hester) and then we have another "grown-up" friend named Will...so you know, who knows?

I'm sucking it up and going to buy a new camera today. Be prepared.

I'm sort of confused about the 3-day weekend. I don't know if I have MLK Jr. day off or not...but kids are out of school...so...hmmmm....? I do know I'm planning to knock off early today because I spent yesterday morning working on a ton of arraignment cases that want to plead, and yesterday afternoon preparing for one big fat meth lab trial, so I did a LOT yesterday, and the stress of the house stuff is making me INSANE...

My sister's baby (Sadie Layne) is due to arrive in like 2-4 weeks. Oh. My. Her baby shower is tomorrow - so I gotta go make a cheeseball and finish Sadie's present and all...and it's MOVIE NIGHT at our house. My kids want pizza. I want Chinese in the WORST way. It's been months and months since I had good Chinese. So, maybe I'll order it take-out and get the pizza and then stop by on the way back...hmmm.

Here's some randomness you can answer for me:
1) What is some random fact about your childhood that a lot of people don't know about?

2) If money were not a factor, and you didn't HAVE to work, how would you spend your days?

3) Who is the most difficult person you've had to work with and why?

7 comments:

  1. 1. My one Barbie was sawed off at the knees so that she wouldn't be SO much taller than G.I. Joe, you know, so they could get married and all.

    2. I would open my own business teaching people how to be crafty. Sewing for people that don't have time to sew. And I would have pre-made kits with fabric, patterns, notions etc., already prepared (because that's my favorite part of a project, designing it...)

    3. Hmmm, not a co-worker, but I had this one client who was a multiple convicted felon, and he was caught selling drugs (he had ROOMS full of cocaine) and he STILL wanted a trial. He could have been convicted and spent life in prison after a trial (because of his prior selling record). The plea recommendation was like 30 serve 10...so it was 10 years or the possibility of life...and HE WANTED A TRIAL...he was GUILTY. He was so so so hard-headed. In the end, he did plead, but it was a hard long road to get there. I'd already picked a jury and everything!

  2. 1) What is some random fact about your childhood that a lot of people don't know about?

I played little league and in my entire LL career I got exactly 2 hits off of pitchers...

    2) If money were not a factor, and you didn't HAVE to work, how would you spend your days?

I'd go back to school... I'd be a full time student.

    3) Who is the most difficult person you've had to work with and why?

Probably the EO... she's just... ugh.

  3. I have my fingers crossed for a better offer!

    1) Random fact from childhood?
I was in a PSA TV commercial when I was about 5 and people thought I had down's syndrome. I blame my haircut.

    2) If money were not a factor, and you didn't HAVE to work, how would you spend your days?
I'd be bored out of my mind because I don't have any real hobbies other than general outdoorsy stuff. Which I don't do much of in the winter. So I'd have to at least volunteer somewhere. Or maybe I'd just "winter" somewhere lovely and tropical!

    3) Who is the most difficult person you've had to work with and why?
A former boss. He was a chauvinistic, rude, disrespectful turd. And his name was on the front door of the company. Thankfully, I found another job and quit!

  4. Petitioning here for a better offer...
    1. Julie and I had to trade turns on the top bunk in Blakehurst because there were daddy longlegs on the ceiling corner and we both liked to play with them...well, I did anyway.

    2. I would paint and travel and travel and paint. then travel to Australia and Albania and US and stay a little in each...

    3. I had a boss at U of M. He was a male chauvanist schizoid who said he wanted you to make more decisions yourself...be a leader, then would get mad if you made decisions for your team and he wasn't consulted!?!?!?!

  5. 1.) I was so scared to learn to ride a bike that I didn't learn until I was like 10, I think it was earlier than that, but not much. On the other hand, since I lived at the beach, I was an excellent swimmer and bodysurfer by age 5.
2.) Lots of travel and crafting and I'd definitely be homeschooling.
3.) Pretty much all my former bosses...

  6. 1. I used to sit in the back of church and circle all the 'e's, color in all the 'o's and cross out all the 'i's and 'a's in the bulletin and that would get me throught most of the service.

    2. I would volunteer at the hospital.

    3. Also a former boss, she was terrible...

  7. Hair sticking up is an absolute must. (remember the 80s? )

Maybe is definitely the Mommy Code Word for no.

Randall Schonder told me about your site today so I thought I would visit. You have adorable kids.
